Conditions We Treat

Richardson patients come to us for a wide range of concerns, including:

For Busy Professionals

Many of our Richardson patients work long hours at a desk, whether along the Telecom Corridor or at home. Neck and shoulder tension, low back pain, headaches, eye strain and stress often go hand in hand. Acupuncture can ease these symptoms, and regular treatment may help keep them from coming back. Most people find the treatment itself deeply relaxing. Appointments until 7 p.m. three days a week make it easier to come after work.

Your First Visit

Before your appointment, you will fill out a detailed health history. During your visit, Dr. Hawken will talk with you about your main concern and overall health, look at your tongue and feel your pulse, the two key diagnostic tools of Chinese medicine. She will then explain her findings and begin treatment.

Acupuncture needles are about as fine as a hair, and most people feel little or nothing as they go in. You will rest comfortably for 15–30 minutes with the needles in place. Wear loose clothing that rolls up past your elbows and knees, eat a light meal beforehand, and bring a list of any medications you take.

Acupuncture Richardson Patients Can Fit Into a Busy Week

We know the drive matters. Most patients come weekly at first, then less often as they improve, and many book their next visit before they leave. Our office is open Monday, Tuesday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Wednesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
